Irish tech house hero Phil Kieran has been throwing some curveballs at us in recent times, appearing with sunny house music on Hot Creations, some punky indie dance on L.A.'s Machine Ltd (with SONNS) and now some Afro tribal grooves that'd make even Daniele Baldelli stand up and notice - his new one for Optimo Music. With a name like "Polyrhythmic" it pretty much does what it says on the tin, but this trance inducing use of syncopated rhythm is definitely the most restrained of the bunch. "Polyrhthmical" and "Polyrhythmica" respectively go for some seriously intense latin carnivale rhythms - in particular the latter which is reminiscent of the Good Men or more directly the legendary Sergio Mendes.

Mano Le Tough, Matthew Herbert and David Holmes all contribute to create a set of flawless cuts and a superb second Remix package. Revered by his peers, Kieran has been producing music for over a decade, building on his solid reputation and forever pushing boundaries with his music. When selecting the second group of remixers, Kieran chose “people who have influenced me and still currently do, in some way I guess they have a connection to the record already. I made a wish list of who I wanted and to my surprise it all seemed to come together very quickly”.

On this club-ready two-tracker, Hot Creations has recruited two suitably heavyweight producers to remix tracks from Phil Kieran's 2016 full-length, Blinded By The Sun. Sometime Alter Ego man Roman Flugel steps up first, delivering a suitably trippy version of "No Life" that builds up into a bouncy, late night tribal techno treat following a creepy, clandestine beginning. The German producer makes great use of a rubbery synth bassline, atmospheric synth lines and dense percussion. On the flip, Andrew Weatherall takes a slightly different approach on his version of "Find Love". While the remix is suitably bass heavy and throbbing, it feels a little more positive and loved-up thanks the veteran producer's use of bubbly electronic melodies and sweeping synth-strings.
